Writer/Editor (Freelance)

The Premier Lacrosse League is seeking a freelance writer to help craft creative content, and recap reports both before and during this summer’s 2021 PLL season Series. The candidate may be required to work nights and weekends during the tournament, in accordance with the league schedule. This freelancer will have the opportunity to work on the ground floor of the most innovative sports league in the industry.

ROLE SPECIFICS

• This is a remote role that will take place from June 1 – September 30

KEY OBJECTIVES

• Craft detailed and accurate pre-game and post-game recaps throughout the 2021 PLL season.
• Write engaging player-driven feature articles
• Keep a pulse on and develop PLL storylines for editorial use
• Collaborate with PLL marketing and content team to gather stats and notable information to drive tune-in

QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree or diploma in journalism, applied arts, or communications
• Razor-sharp command of English
• 1-2 years previous writing experience
• In-depth/expert knowledge of lacrosse
• Excellent attention to detail
• E Efficient at research, interviews, photography, and writing skills
• Self-motivated, self-directed and an aptitude for news judgment
• Ability to work remotely and able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends and nights
• Personable, confident, curious nature, and a passion for understanding the world of lacrosse
• A flair for story-telling
• Some media experience is preferred
